Richard, a police officer in Colorado, wears his uniform with pride, but the role of officer, pales in comparison to his role in the DMD community. Richard is committed to providing fulfilling life experiences for his children, and others living with DMD. Through his development of the Romito Foundation, Rich provides a yearly DMD camp for the Rocky Mountain region. The foundation also takes these kids on outings during the year, such as fishing, sporting events and providing much needed social opportunities.

One unsuspecting afternoon, working away at our printing company, Scudder Press, we were greeted by a Thornton Police Officer entering our front door. We asked him what we could do for him, and in his ever-humble manner, he stated “maam, I am not looking for a hand-out or charity, however, I am the founder of the Romito Foundation, a local organization that supports children with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.” We asked him to sit down and tell us about his organization and he explained that 3 of his 4 sons have this disease and what the Foundation does to help all local children with Duchenne. Married for over 35 years, Amy and I act as a team supporting the Foundation and enjoy the blessings of our 2 married children and 5 grandchildren who also volunteer with the Romito Foundation!

I do a large amount of the networking for Scudder Press, as a member of Westminster Chamber, Broomfield Chamber, Metro North Chamber and 4BR. Our connections at these chambers give me the opportunity to create exposure and enthusiasm for the Romito Foundation and our events. I look forward to many more years supporting these “warriors” whom we also consider friends, as well as their amazing families.
